UE Ranks Among Top 10 in U.S.News & World Report List of "America's Best Colleges"
 Classes begin at UE.

The University has received the new rankings from U.S.News & World Report's "Best Colleges" issue. This year, the University of Evansville moved up in its rankings among Midwest colleges and universities, landing in the #2 spot in the Best Value category, and #10 overall. This year, a new category for universities with "A Strong Commitment to Teaching" also was added to the rankings, and the University of Evansville was listed at #6 in that category, as well.

Overall, the lineup for America's Best Colleges in the Midwest is similar to last year's rankings, with UE passing Drury University to regain a position among the Top 10. Last year, Drury University was #10, and we were #11. UE also passed Valparaiso University to become #2 on the Best Value list.

Selection on the U.S.News list is based upon six key measures of academic quality. Included among these measures are assessment by administrators at peer institutions, student graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, and alumni giving.

This news got the year off to a good start. UE classes began Wednesday, August 26 with a new class of 701 students. This is the largest freshman class in 13 years; total enrollment is 2699.

Become a Mentor for a UE Student!

mentor

Join the Student-Alumni Mentoring Program! As an alum, parent or friend of the University, you have the opportunity to mentor and lead many students. Our goal is to directly connect current sophomores, juniors and seniors with alumni and friends of the University of Evansville, in order to establish a variety of professional support.

Student - Alumni mentor partners are assigned for the academic year each September by the Office of Career Services in consultation with Alumni and Parent Relations, based upon the best achievable match between the student and available mentors.

This program will kick-off in September with a reception on campus in the new William L. Ridgway University Center. The Offices of Alumni and Parent Relations and Career Services and Cooperative Education will host on-campus luncheons to provide networking opportunities in the months of October, November, February and March.

You do not have to reside in Evansville to be a mentor. E-mail can be the exclusive means to connect to our students or it can be an additional communication tool for those who ordinarily meet in person. Over the years we have had many successful long-distance alumni mentoring relationships develop from this program.

To volunteer for the alumni mentoring program, complete the Mentor Interest Form online. For more information on the mentoring program, please contact Monica Spencer, at 812.488.4065,or ms323@evansville.edu.
