Founder's Day Celebration - UE Celebrates its 157th
Birthday
The University of Evansville
celebrates its 157th birthday this week with cake, ice cream, and celebration of
its history and alumni. These are the details by day:
Friday The celebration begins
with a University-wide birthday party at 12:45 p.m., Friday, Feb. 18, in Ridgway
Center Lobby. Students, faculty, staff, trustees and other UE friends are all
invited. Cake will be served following singing of "Happy Birthday." Wear your
best purple on Friday in honor of UE's birthday!
Sunday UE actually observes
Founders Day this Sunday, Feb. 20, with a convocation service and awards
luncheon beginning with the service in Neu Chapel at 10:30 a.m. that features
the Edgar M. McKown Lectureship. This year's speaker is Leonard Sweet, who is a
historian of American culture, a futurist/semiotician who "sees things the rest
of us do not see, and dreams possibilities that are beyond most of our
imagining," and a preacher and writer who communicates the gospel powerfully to
a post-modem age by bridging the worlds of academe and popular culture. In 2006
and 2007, Sweet was voted by his peers "One of the 50 Most Influential
Christians in America" by
ChurchReport
Magazine.

File the 2011-12 FAFSA by March 10
File the 2011-12 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at
www.fafsa.gov to be considered for federal,
state and University financial aid, including federal student loans. The 2011-12
FAFSA establishes aid eligibility for fall 2011 through summer 2012.
Students from Indiana must ensure that their 2011-12 FAFSA is received by the
federal processor no later than March 10, 2011. Filing by March 10 is
beneficial for all students. Questions regarding the FAFSA should be directed to
the Office of Financial Aid at 812-488-2364, 800-424-8634 or
financialaid@evansville.edu.

Beware of Financial Aid Services Requesting a Fee
Several students have reported receiving a mailing from College Financial
Advisory. The letter references applying for "all available 2011-12 financial
aid programs" and wants to collect your $59 processing fee. DO NOT respond to
mailings from this organization. Another company to have recently sent materials
is "Student Financial Aid Services, Inc." They direct you to file your FAFSA at
www.fafsa.COM for a fee. Don't go there!
Remember, filing the official 2011-12 Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA) at www.fafsa.GOV is FREE, and filing
by March 10 is an important step that we encourage all UE students to take.
However, the Office of Financial Aid recommends you never pay a person or
service to assist you with filing the FAFSA or searching for scholarships. You
can browse through a listing of private scholarships on our AceLink financial
aid page under the link: "Outside Scholarship Opportunities."

To add funds, you will need the student's card number and last name. To

Double your Gift to UE with the Kazee Challenge

Generous donors to UE are honoring President Thomas Kazee by matching
dollar-for-dollar Annual Fund gifts made by parents in the Challenge group! If
you have a corporate matching gift, that will be matched as well.
The Kazee Challenge will also “pay off” in another way if you are a parent
who is also a UE Alumni. Our alumni participation rate is currently 14%. Each
time we increase 2%, the Annual Fund will earn $25,000! So alums, please make a
gift today!
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
- Make a gift today by calling 812-488-2271 or visiting
www.evansville.edu/give.
- If you have a corporate matching gift, send in your form or enter it online.
- Spread the word! Email, Phone, Facebook, Twitter…just let other alums, friends
and parents of UE know that you made a gift and you would like them to make
one too!
Don't miss out on this great opportunity to have your UE Annual Fund gift
doubled, and to possibly help increase the alumni participation rate!
