The University of Evansville has
once again been included in the
Princeton Review's "Best in the
Midwest" list, which includes 153
colleges and universities in 12
states. The annual feature was
posted at
PrincetonReview.com.
To develop its lists of
regional bests, the review relies on
student surveys, along with
institutional data and other
measures. Student comments are
available on PrincetonReview.com;
one student called UE "a place where
you will know all of your faculty
and the faculty will know you and
really care about you, a place where
you can really talk to your
professors about anything from work,
to life, to your future."

UE Theatre Presents
Eurydice By Sarah
Ruhl Directed by Diane
Brewer September 28 and 29
at 7:30 p.m. September 30 at
2:00 p.m. Shanklin Theatre
Discounted tickets: $10
The most widely
acclaimed and influential female
playwright of the decade, Sarah
Ruhl imaginatively and lyrically
recounts the classic Greek myth
of Orpheus, only this time
through the eyes of the heroine.
After tragically dying on her
wedding day, Eurydice must face
a surreal underworld, including
a raining elevator, a swim
across a memory-erasing river,
and a chorus of talking stones.
This Pulitzer Prize-nominated
playwright uses powerful imagery
and a sense of wonderment to
gently move audiences through an
enduringly appealing story of
love and its fragility.

Center for Career Development
August was an exciting
month for the newly named Center
for Career Development. While we
will still be providing services we
always have, we will also be
enhancing the UE experience by
offering even more to our current
and prospective students!
High school students who are testing
the waters of college life and
considering the University of
Evansville may now schedule an
appointment with the Center for
Career Development to discuss the
results of the Do What You
Are personality assessment designed
to give them a clearer vision of
their career choices and options. If
you have students at home who are
potential Purple Aces, please
consult with an admission
counselor about taking advantage
of this great
opportunity!
One more
exciting addition to the list of
benefits UE students can take
advantage of is our ACE
Certificate. This program will
ensure that students learn effective
techniques to easily communicate
their professionalism, skills, and
career focus. Encourage your student
to take advantage of this
skill-building opportunity that will
stay with them for a lifetime and
reflect on their transcript!

Athletics
Evansville Tennis Honored with ITA
Academic Awards
UE’s
women’s tennis team has been honored
with team and individual honors from
the Intercollegiate Tennis
Association. Evansville garnered the
ITA All-Academic Team Award for its
performance in the classroom. In
order to be eligible, the team must
post a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or
higher with all players on the
roster factoring into the final GPA
tally. On the individual
side, five Aces were honored as ITA
Scholar-Athletes. Seniors Dora
Kotsiou and Jessica Raatz led the
group, which also includes Kelsey
Costales, Gaby Fifer, and Emily
Richardson. “Our team accomplished
something very special,” head coach
Nick Mueller said. “It is hard
enough to play Division I athletics,
but being able to balance that work
with your work in the classroom is
something that is very special. I
am very proud of our team.” In order
for individuals to be named as ITA
Scholar-Athletes, they must pass
three criteria including being a
varsity letterwinner, recording a
GPA of at least 3.50 on a 4.0 scale
and the nominee must have been
enrolled at the institution for a
minimum of two semesters.
UE's
Swimming and Diving Squads Rank
Nationally in Academics
Both
the men’s and women’s swimming and
diving teams at the University of
Evansville were announced as a
Scholar-Athlete team for the Spring
2012 semester, as named by the
College Swimming Coaches Association
of America. UE’s women’s swimming
and diving team tied for the
fifth-highest team grade point
average at the Division I level with
a combined 3.56, while the men’s
squad tied for 30th with a 3.10 GPA.
“I am very proud of this team and
how they represent the athletic
department and the University of
Evansville,” said head coach Rickey
Perkins. “They continue to impress
me with their desire to see how good
they can be academically and
athletically.” Last year’s
women’s squad produced seven members
of the Missouri Valley Conference’s
Scholar-Athlete team while the men’s
team saw four athletes placed on the
Academic All-Mid America Conference
team. Senior swimmer Colin Gray was
also named as a First Team Academic
All-American selection, marking
Evansville’s first athlete to
receive First Team Academic
All-America status since soccer
player Mike Luttrull was selected
for the 2010 Men’s Soccer First
Team. The Scholar All-America Team award is presented to
college and university swimming and
diving teams who have achieved a
cumulative grade point average of
3.0 or higher. The award is
presented to teams achieving this
standard in the fall semester and in
the semester of the NCAA Swimming
and Diving Championships
(Winter/Spring).
